Grandmas French Vanilla Ice Cream

From Grandma (Makes 1-1/2 Quarts)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ¾ cup sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 9 eggs
  • 1 gallon whole milk
  • ice cream salt
  • 4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 small cartons heavy cream

Instructions
 

Double Boiler

  • Add sugar, salt, and 1 1/2 cups of milk until warm. Beat eggs into mix and milk, and cook until it coats the spoon.
    1 3/4 cup sugar, dash of salt, 9 eggs, 1 gallon whole milk

Strain

  • Strain & pour into container. Add more milk with vanilla.
    4 tsp vanilla extract, 3 small cartons heavy cream

Cool

  • Cool & add more milk, if desired.

Freeze & Enjoy

  • Run ice cream maker.
